Until my daughter came along we had not flown long haul normal economy since 1992 we flew a mixture it Premium with Virgin or business with United and when they operated Maxjet.

Now we have one salary and three tickets so buy economy and we pay for seats and MCE or Economy plus, pre daughter economy to PE I would not hesitate for £150 but now that is £450 I have to think long and hard., it’s not that I don’t think it’s worth it, Ido it’s whether it’s worth it for you.

I hope the price comes down for you, £450 is a lot, we actually changed our entire holiday dates to dates where it was £12 each to upgrade to PE. It was actually cheaper than economy delight.
We haven't done a direct flight or PE before so we are super excited! Hope it works out for you.

I find that you are either a Plane Sleeper or not, I would not waste my money on PE in these circumstances.

If it is really just the prospect of the drive home being the limiting factor here, and there is no presently known life / death reason for racing home, why not book a "Quiet Day Room" somewhere instead?

This will be a fraction of the PE upgrade, you all can have a nice relaxed meal of some ilk, (even a nap) and a chill-out time as long as you actually need.

Dibbers usually say the holiday and enjoyment starts once you are on your way to the airport, so why then can't it end when you turn that key in your front door on return?

Anyways, as you already know that you will have a really fantastic time, then why not drag it out for a few more hours?

We experienced virgin PE for first time in July to and from New York, in addition to all the perks, because of the foot rest and seat size we slept better than we have on overnights before.

I did not enjoy Premium and I upgraded on the way back.
The reason for this is that it is much harder to get comfortable for sleep on leather seats. It was a waste of money for us.

We've booked a room after airport arrival. Works well and you can freshen up. Doesn't need to be at airport maybe a premier inn a short distance away.

The bonus of PE in your case would likely be the quieter cabin. However, if you're able to get economy seats in the bubble this is a bit of a moot point.

When I've been travelling alone I've gotten that £150 upgrade just for me on the return leg as it's a bit more private and I'm a nervous flyer. But whether or not I'd pay that amount times 4 I couldn't say.

Me and OH do tend to go PE but that's as I religiously collect miles and it suits us. When the time comes for kiddos, I think it'll likely be economy in the bubble due to cost. Hope this helps! 😁

Is your 3 year old likely to want to spread out over mummy or daddy to sleep? I always found the seats in PE difficult with my sons when they were little. The armrest is static, so they couldn’t lean across and slouch all over me when it was time to fall asleep.

We fly out Classic (bubble) and home PE.
Doesn't come close to Tui Premium.
