You can top up the revolut daily with a debit card so there’s no need to keep massive amounts of money on it. There’s no fee for topping up so every morning you can just choose how much to put on for the day. There’s no risk.

Just returned and had my FairFX card. Used lots and no problems but always have my credit card as a back up

Personally I'd set up a Starling account, money is kept in your account as sterling and uses Mastercard exchange rate and no fees charged

This, Starling account, it was very easy to apply, both myself and the wife opened the account before we came out. Cards arrived within days.

It's been so good we just use it everywhere, it instantly tells you via a phone notification (or my apple watch) that the card has been used and actually how much in both dollars and £'s has been spent.

The app has allowed us to transfer money between our accounts immediately, as you can both activate the phone to find another phone in the immediate vicinity.

It has been great. I'm definitely going to continue to use the account when I get back too.

And it's protected by the FSE as well.
