I don't like to see phone's being used at the dining table. I did have to laugh once. DW and I were seated studying the menu when I saw a young couple being escorted to the table opposite. I sort of gathered by their body language that this was a first or second date. Anyway, directly after they had been seated, there was no small talk or knowing glances across the table, it was simultaneously out with the mobiles and that was it until the food arrived and even then once the server had left it was fork in one hand phone in the other. I wonder if they actually knew each others name.

I think it’s bad manners... I love watching I’m
tracker but in a recent vlog his wife Jen left on a goofy cap in a signature restaurant in Hollywood Studios... I just thought it was really rude! |

We have hats off.
Phones we try to limit. Think we had it our for photos or vouchers etc. Maybe to look up where we were going after etc or if we had to snag a fastpass. Phones are generally away when home too at table. |

Only DH wears hat, if it was a park day and a QS then he would leave hat on, but if it was a nicer restaurant in the evening then he wouldn’t wear hat, however it wouldn’t bother me if someone else chose to a wear a hat in a restaurant. Phones we might check fast passes or queue times if in park, view photos from day or take photos of each other, but once that is done then generally phones go away and we eat and chat, again it doesn’t bother me what others do. Sometimes phones can be the talking point, for example DD wanted DS to find out what house and patronus he had on Pottermore, so we did that and all chatted and laughed about his answers.

What other people do doesn't concern me. Hat on or off, or if they have their phones out, not fussed.
Me, I usually take my hat off, just to let my head cool down abit. Phone, yep get it out straight away. Then I don't have to speak to the wife 😁 |

I think Chick-fil-A have the no-mobiles-at-dinner-time thing nailed...

We don’t wear hats , and tbh I don’t really notice if others remove them or not .
It a bit ironic that some posters don’t use phones at the table so they can converse with each other ,yet judging by posts on here spend their whole meals looking at other couples and knowing they don’t speak to each other etc 😂😂 . Maybe instead spend that time talking to your family ;-) |

I also saw this and do not understand why it's rude? At the end of the video Tim did say there was no dress code at this particular restaurant as they had asked before entering, so why is wearing a Disney themed hat in Disney an issue?
I don't wear hats so its never an issue and before this thread never even gave it a thought about people wearing hats, but I still can't understand why wearing a hat is rude? |

I just read some interesting articles regarding the wearing of hats when eating and whether it is deemed to be rude. I was brought up also, in the belief that when sat at the dining room table, you should remove hats. The etiquette dates back to when people used to wear hats in the old fashioned cars. They didn’t want grime and dirt to fall off in their plates when eating following driving open topped cars. The etiquette continued that it was deemed rude if you did not remove your hat when entering an indoor enclosed space.
I would remind my DH and DSs to remove their hats when eating as I do see it as being rude at an indoor dining table. Phones - again, we have a no phone policy when eating. Don’t mind a quick check of the messages when seated etc., but generally phones away whilst at the dining table.
