I’d have smashed the window and walked off!

Well done for what you did.
That’s the standard excuse of the irresponsible, “I was only a couple of minutes. “
A shopping centre near me has signs in the car park to the effect of leave your dog at home, don’t bring it here and leave it in a hot car.

Well done you for trying to help, when no one else was all that bothered.
Poor poor dog I hate to think what sort of life it has at home, not much by the sound of it, makes me so sad and angry how people treat their pets..

I am sure they must have a tannoy of some sort, how else do they tell you when a cashier is opening/closing and when they call for assistance.

How awful, I honestly cant believe that in this day and age of knowledge people still leave their dogs in cars. Last year (funnily enough also in an aldi car park) someone left their dog in a car in the heatwave - so also temps of almost 30. Aldi were brilliant, they called over the tannoy a couple of times then called the police who turned up with a blue light. The police waited by the car for 2 or 3 minutes shading it as best they could then broke the window, got the dog out and into their air con car, the driver turned up about 10 minutes after the police and at least 20 since the dog was spotted.

They said they just had the automated voice thing that says what till is opening or closing. Seemed a bit odd to me mind. Two of the staff did come out to the car while I was on the phone to the police, then went back in store to 'ask around ' to see if they could find the owner

I may have smashed the window too. Some people are downright irresponsible! We went to B&Q today at 5:30pm and I was in the car with the kids as hubby took the trolley back and he had the keys. He took maybe 5 mins a bit longer than normal as he was faffing over a trolley token and I had to get out and shout him over as it was getting unbearable. This was late on for a few mins at most. I can’t imagine what that dog went through.

You wouldn't leave your child in a roasting hot car, for me my dog is my child and will be treated the same way. Disgusting.

Before smashing the car window, you need to take a picture of the dog inside the car and if you do smash the car window make sure it is a back one, more expensive to replace, can you tell i’ve had experience in this, also have the rspca number on your phone, they will send the police, and always take a picture of the number plate

Everything you did was right, after I'd done all the things you did if no one had responded or turned up I would've smashed the window... some people don't deserve a pet when they don't have the sense they were born with 😠😠😠, when it's hot I will only let my dogs out for a minute or two to do what they need too and then we encourage them into shade, their walks are early in day or later in the day and in a shady area
