Mobile Hertz toll pass

Hi all,

Renting with Hertz this time instead of Alamo. What is the Hertz policy on toll charges etc?

Apologies if this has been asked already.

It's cheaper to use visitor toll pass, I used it with my hertz rental last month and it worked fine.

Alamo’s toll fees on top of the actual tolls are quite reasonable for us as we tend to incur tolls on specific trips, so just on a few days so only pay the Alamo fee on those days. Even so visitor pass will be a bit cheaper, does it automatically override the auto toll in hire cars or do you need to specifically opt out?

There are some very extensive posts about the visitors toll pass on here and in summary those who have used the VTP have only been charged for using that and have not been "double-dipped" by Sunpass as well.

You can't opt out of any Sunpass scheme because passing through a toll automatically takes a photo of your plate.

I hazarded a guess in one of the other threads that the VTP gets read and cancels out the camera. DonnaD, a regular Dibber who lives out there, suggests that you may still see a camera flash. Something in the VTP must override the camera.
