Sorry, my take is you owe the money so if you still want to go you'll need to pay up. You must have been aware that your payments weren't going to cover the cost.

Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything you can do. Yes they have admitted they haven’t collected the correct amount each month however the total cost of your holiday was x amount and that is what you need to pay.
Did you not realise that the amount you were paying each month wasn’t going to add up to the balance you owed?

To set up a direct debit a letter (sometimes/some companies send by email) this has to be sent 10 days prior to the first payment coming out. You should have had that letter when you started the payments. Do you still have the letter? If so, please check it and see if they laid out the payments in a schedule.
But I assume the price quoted is what you need to pay, so is there still £120 owing? Not sure if they can cancel the holiday, please check the T&Cs.

Why wouldn't you pay it? It's not as though you're having to pay £120 extra than the original quoted holiday price. I understand they made a mistake but unfortunately for you, you still owe them that money.

I was told the price of the direct debit which was for the cost of the holiday the mistake wasn’t found out till the last payment even the travel agents didn’t know until I queried it I was told the direct debit covered the price of the holiday so I believed them

I don’t think there’s any way out of this. If the original price quoted includes that £120 I would imagine you’ll need to pay it.

How much does your paperwork say your holiday costs in total? If what you have paid by DD doesn’t add up to this, then the £120 needs to be paid.

You have to pay it. It's not as if they're charging you £120 extra.

What was the original total holiday cost quoted and what have you paid? If there’s a minus gap between those two things then you both got the maths wrong. I’d let it go and pay. If they suddenly realised they under charged you £120 then they made an error. For the sake of £120 pay anyway, secure your trip and then decide if you can be bothered to bicker with them about it. Bickering on Twitter/Face Book if they are in the wrong (politely) will probably get a better result.
