Arrived in USA yesterday after spending 15 days in Mexico and was very quiet and easy coming through immigration.

As I promised I would report how requirements went.

Arriving in Mexico needed to fill out arrival and health questionnaire documents but they were handed out by BA on plane. I was told I would have to provide proof that I had accommodation booked, plus proof of when leaving Mexico and sufficient funds whilst there. None of this was asked for nor was the health questionnaire collected.

I stayed in a quiet AI complex about 30 minutes from Cancun and felt very safe as masks were required even whilst walking around outdoors but not on beach ,nor by pool. Temperature was taken each time I went for meals and hotel had testing facilities for antigen and PCR daily and I only needed an antigen test to enter USA which cost $18

I flew United to Denver and I had to scan and upload my passport and negative test result. Despite this they requested to see my documents at airport including my ESTA and onward travel from USA to UK.

I had to download another health questionnaire in Cancun airport which authorised you to enter security area and several people were turned away as they hadn’t done.

On the plane I met 3 women who had been refused entry to USA the previous day as they had not left 14 clear days of not being in UK so you must stay 15 days as you can’t count arrival or departure days. I already knew that so was fine. They however had to pay to return to Mexico, overnight there and pay again for flight next day. Expensive mistake.

On arrival in USA very quiet international hall and automatic screens to take photo, fingerprints and answer questions and got slip to take to immigration officer. No queue and just asked for ESTA and what was purpose of visit and length of stay so all normal and greatly relieved and happy to be with my son and family again after 18 months.

Any specific questions just message me.

I stayed at the Catalonia Playa Maroma and I chose it because it had a lovely pool area, excellent WiFi and was quiet which were my priorities.

Downsides were despite a beautiful beach there is a lot of Sargassum along the whole coast so smell was off putting. I thought food was good put others complained. If you like nightlife it is not for you as very quiet which is what I wanted.

Silly question time, how do you come back to the UK without having to stay at an isolation hotel?

The USA is Amber, not Red.

The US isn't on the red list so you can quarantine at home.

You would only need to stay in an isolation hotel for a Red country USA is amber so only need to isolate at home
