Help! Virgin cake maker!
Its my daughter’s 18th in May and I really want to make a cake from scratch 😱 I have never made a cake apart from out of a box but I think a proper home made one will taste better.
I have no equipment so what do I need? What is a pretty fail safe cake option ? We don’t like icing so it will with be decorated with buttercream or chocolate spread and topped with loads of her favourite chocolates. The cake can be a white cake, chocolate cake, anything really as long as it tastes delicious! |

I have just made a chocolate bundt cake, it's currently cooling. However the mix will easily do 2 or three layers if you want to do a round layer cake and decorate. I've done this a few times now and it never fails. Only change I made was I used less coffee, about 150ml. I just use one of my nespresso pods and let it cool down a bit.
Oh and you can do this just in a bowl with a spoon and spatula.. I use my mixer on low but only cos its there. Have a test run of the mix if you have bundt pan handy. X

Hello!
For straight edges you’ll need a scraper and just a standard Victoria sponge mix will be fine for a stacked cake. I missed if you’d mentioned a flavour preference. Have you got a few tins of the same size? If not, for a tall cake you’ll need to re-bake after you’ve washed them up! Dripping is easy. I tend to use a squeeze bottle but you can just use a teaspoon. Just make sure you let your ganache set a little before you add the toppings or they’ll begin to slide off! Edited at 05:58 PM. |

Watch cupcake jemma on you tube. Really simple easy recipes to follow. She does a tutorial on a drip cake. Invest in some decent cake tins and don't deviate from the recipe. Happy baking x
