That is an excellent point... proven by the mess currently in my kitchen, and I left it sparkling last night!

That layout looks like it will work really well.

Do you have any other doors or windows into the kitchen area? Would you have room to turn the island 90 degrees, and have it face out the window?

Also, the block on the island... do you think that will be functional enough to eat at? If you have a higher bit on the island, you will probably need full height bar stools (as opposed to higher chairs) and there may not be enough room for knees to fit properly under the counter.

Its a personal thing, but I think the block might ruin the visuals of the kitchen, making it look just a little less open and bright?

This is my island with a sink and a dishwasher underneath..I love it..we always put the dishes straight into the dishwasher so it is always tidy..❤️❤️

not my room but will have windows like this towards the garden. I don't have enough space to turn it the other way I am afraid

we have separate dinning room. Yes not too sure about the block myself, my husband's idea!

What colour would you choose for cabinets?

I think I’d prefer a large island all at the same height rather than a raised block. But the raised area does keep fingers away from the hob.
