Things in the new that

Define you
I’ll start
JFK bring shot I was 3 but remember as Clare as day Dad telling mum who was bathing me
The Vietnam War was that when things started to be in real time in a conflict
The Troubles in Ireland bombs in the Uk

The Lockerbie Bombing which is DS1 first defining moment
The Death of Princess Diana DS 2/3 moment
As I look at our 3 youngest grand kids I know 2 will remember the bug but I can only hope our Gd first moment will be a happy one when the world returns to living a life of joy shared with every one we love in person every day world wide that moment young love can blossom families can share the joy of a new baby in person all over the world and that special moment when we don’t have to think is it safe just to

Falkland war and a teacher telling us it was the end to the world
Lockerbie bombing the night of our 6th year Christmas dance
Manchester IRA bombing in 1996 while travelling to the airport
9/11 potted trained my toddler as we stayed glued to the TV for days.
13 March 2020 @ 1030 GMT and getting a call from my 17 year old daughter that they were closing her school due to the Covid threat could I get back from France asap ? I was back in Scotland enjoying a takeaway ( and a large glass of wine) with her by 2300.
Like countless others many missed milestones over lockdown

The Aberfan disaster made an impact on me even though I was young. I still remember my mother’s reaction.

Another one is Dunblane. It still shocks me to this day.

The twin towers collapsing. I struggled to accept it was real.

My 8 year old grandson has asked me a couple of times if we are living through a historic time just now with the pandemic. He knows he will remember this time in the future.

I remember Elvis dying as my mums friend was i floods of tears. I was only 5 at the time but the memory is very vivid.
My friends brother in law was in the Navy during the Falklands war and the whole family was so worried. It was such a relief when he came home safe.
When Diana died I heard it on the radio as I was driving in to work. It was just so shocking. I don't thing we got much work done as we put the radio on and sat with a coffee just listening in shock. My work friend was due to get married on the day of her funeral and many of her suppliers, including her hairdresser, cancelled last minute as they decided to close. We got married exactly a yer later.
My daughter was just a baby when the 9/11 attack happened and my husband was working in London and got evacuated from the tower he was in.He just got on a train and came home. We had a family member in the twin towers so for us it was a horrific time waiting to hear for news.

Falklands my uncle was in the navy. They had a street party for him when he returned.
IRA
Iraq and Afghanistan, we had a caravan in Witney and the planes flying in and out from Brize Norton. I remember this black batman looking thing and there was no sound until it was over you, spooky.

When Lockerbie happened I was working as a student nurse in a hospital day until. Each morning we would go out with the Ambulance drivers and pick up the patients. The morning after Lockerbie many of those drivers had been to the town the night before. Dreadful

I remember JFK being shot because they took Route 66 off the TV. I had no idea who he was or what the relevance could be to me. I was a real brat back then!
