I drive hotels

Looking for a hotel for 4 nights next May. Looking at Rosen at Point Orlando as sister has stayed before and like it but recent reviews are pretty poor and putting her off. I said to ignore as most are pandemic stays and people moaning about covid related restrictions and removal of service and people statying with unrealistic expectations. Other options are best Western gateway or sonesta es International drive but we know very little of those hotels. Anyone been to either or all and what is your opinion. Very little time is spent in the room so just looking for a clean comfy room/bed with no frills.

We stayed at the Rosen Point Orlando, back in 2017. Not 5 star but then realistically how much time will you spend there. Its probably not the most modern, but the rooms were clean enough, there was a fridge in the room, decent TV and it was comfortable. My only criticism was the air conditioner which was a bit noisy, but I think that is the same for most of them. Staff were very friendly and basic facilities if you didn't want to walk up the road for meals, drinks etc.

Rosen Plaza is fab. Interior corridors and excellent service. Usually not much more than Rosen at Pointe but higher rating.
We booked ours as a hotel only booking with Virgin Holidays

We’ve stayed at Rosen inn at pointe four times and sonesta es suites once. Rosen is basic and definitely not a luxury hotel but it’s a good base in a great location. As two adults we are happy here as just sleep and shower.

Sonesta es are lovely, bright and modern apartments and we stayed with two teens (two bathrooms was a godsend). Sonesta much more expensive than Rosen but it’s like comparing a Rolls Royce with a Scoda.

We got moved there in 2019 after complaining to VH about our apartments and was pleasantly surprised, it was very clean, staff were nice, lovely grounds and an ideal central location.

I do use reviews to give me an idea about a place but have found that a few people only leave a review when its bad and not when its been good.

Take a look at the Hilton Hampton Inns or Homewood Suites I-Drive, they include free breakfast, no resort fee & free parking

Homewood suites has changed now ...they now charge for parking and charge for the park shuttles which is shocking really ...$8 each to universal and $15 each to Disney ..they said it’s because it’s a new management company ...oh and they also want $50 a day incidental hold which over 2 weeks is alot of money you can’t touch

We stayed at Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando twice in 2019 and would definitely stay there again. It's an easy drive from the airport and is a great location for all the shops and restaurants.

On the Hilton website they state that parking is free but the shuttles have fees, it could be a case that due to their location the new owner felt they needed to charge for parking?

We've booked the Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks (next door to Sea World) and the shuttles & parking are all free, just by staying nearer to Disney we don't have to worry about the paid shuttles. We've also got Springhill Suites LBV by Marriot booked as a back-up as they also offer free parking & free shuttles to the parks

We always take our money in cash as it helps us to keep better management of how much we're spending so charging the incidentals to a debit card or even a credit card isn't too big of an issue for us personally
