Any one else watch this? Season 8 just started last night in the US and is called Grizzly Mountain, set in British Columbia.

If you've never heard of it I guess you could say it's reality TV. 10 contestants who are survival experts get dropped off in a really remote location such as Alaska, usually just before winter.They are allowed to take clothing etc and 10 items from a select list, examples could be fishing line, axe, knife, tarp etc. They do their own filming and are totally alone. It's not possible to run into another contestant. They are at risk from predators such as bears and mountain lions. They can quit at anytime by a sat phone call. Whoever lasts the longest wins $500,000.

Not something I have any real interest in but I find it fascinating watching people survive, building shelters, catching food, hunting and being terrified of being killed in their sleep by grizzlies! Some people last a few days, the current record is 87 days.

Really recommended. On on the History channel in the UK.

We LOVE alone…. It is truly the toughest program out there…. The misery that some of the contestants endure is mind blowing .. and the jeopardy is real!

Will wait for a few more episodes before we start.

We've not heard of this before, but found series 7 on On Demand yesterday and we're really enjoying it. Thanks for the recommendation

The one thing I don’t get is the contestants all look so old and haggard, they look way older than they actually are. So much for living with nature!

I'm struggling to find season 8. I've got the History channel (Sky History) with Virgin but can't find it despite going through a whole week of listings. Is that the right channel? What day and time is it on please?

Ah, thank you. I have found Alone: The Beast on On Demand now, so will watch that.
Really enjoyed season 7, but very annoyed yo find out that the last episode isn't available, so I need to find it online somewhere. Why put a season On Demand and miss the final episode? 🙄

I've watched "Alone" for years, love it. Love all those sort of programs, inc Naked and Afraid.

I'd imagine if Season 8 has just started in the US, it'll be on over here in a few weeks. Not seen any ads for it yet mind... but I do tend to fast-forward thru the ads.

The Beast is ok but not as good as the regular programme but still worth a watch. Slightly different format.
