I don't know if you meant ALL London or just part. I don't think they're generally legal in London Boroughs, MF. Just in certain boroughs on this limited TfL trial. They're a menace in their own right and I dread to think what happens if a car wipes out an illegal user. I can't see it being straightforward insurance wise and legally for the driver.

Also a silent and deadly risk to pedestrians as many are used on pavements.

Unfortunately this looks like the thin edge of the wedge and I can see them becoming more prevalent. Certain cyclists are a nightmare, but at least they're getting fitter. No health benefit for these scooters.

I noticed in Halfords that they're campaigning to make them legal. I wonder why.

I meant what it said in my link - legal in some Borough but I am near Richmond and they are all over Clapham today so what is to stop them crossing the border ? Unenforceable now in Town so kind off avowed eg if it came to court it would be difficult call as bough boundaries are not marked. The trial will be expanded as it what the Mayor wants to see happen - I guess its down to availability and docking stations rather than a real trial with feedback - his office is pushing it on SM

I hate them as, due to knee problems I can’t jump out of the way quickly. No way will many riders keep to the rules. Saw them being used in in Washington on the roads and thought they looked very dangerous.

I work in Stratford and when I was in the office 15 months ago these scooters were legal to ride in the Olympic Park, they were a nightmare walking over from the station to where I worked wizzing past at a rate of knots, the worse thing is you can’t hear them, if I had taken a step right/left I’m sure they would have had me base over apex.

Do you have to wear a mask whilst riding one, if not you’ll see me scooting around shortly with poppy on the back! 🤣

Why would they need to wear a mask; the riders are outdoors, same as cyclists?

In Chelmsford we have an official e-scooter trial. To say they are a nuisance is an understatement - you are supposed to wear a cycle helmet but most do not realise that and don't bother.

When we were in Auckland there a lot of mainly youngsters using them on the pavements and there have been some nasty accidents including the death of a rider - they think the wheel seized up and the rider went over the handle bar.

I hate them too. They are dangerous whilst being ridden on pavements and then get dumped all over the place when not in use. Who on earth thought these are a good idea?

There were literally hundreds of them along the river walk in Greenwich. It was very busy with people but they were weaving in and out at speed. My heart was in my mouth. It’s only a matter of time before someone is badly hurt.

Encountered two kids riding one, no helmets, on a busy arterial road in Cardiff recently. On the wrong side of the road making cars swerve around them. No trials here - totally illegal.
