When we were over in Jan we discovered the Aldi at Cocoplum, Northport. My DH loves Lays Wavy crisps and I bought some Aldi substitute Clancy. $4.99 Publix, $1.49 Aldi. We can't tell the difference 😎

The veg & fruit are as good as Walmart but much cheaper. I got humus & guacamole, both delicious and easily half of Publix. The Aldi is a fairly new store and I was amused to see the locals struggling to get trolleys. The concept of putting a quarter in to get a trolley is alien to them. I think I have helped about 5 people so far 😂😂😂

I wouldn't buy meat or fish at Aldi. We usually stock the freezer after a visit to Costco. Don't think you can beat Costco for meat & fish 👍

We are back out again at the moment and really disappointed to find that WinnDixie have stopped their fuel rewards. In Jan/ Feb we racked up $1.45 off a gallon at the CircleK Englewood. It made a big difference when filling up to go back to Miami... we will miss this perk.

I buy organic grass fed ground beef from Aldi and have started to buy small fresh salmon fillets as it doesn't have that horrible bright pink colour of other stores from the additives they put in the feed

They also do Smithfield brand pork sometimes which is sold in most major supermarkets.

Hi Nik - some were asking how much longer afore it opens, apparently it could still be a good 3 month, so you'll likely be home again! Aldi run an ad here along the lines of they could price match with their competitors but they'd have to raise prices by 30%!

We'll definitely give them a go in November when we drop the car at Budget's depot on Pine Island Rd, Aldi is 4 mile from there but 19 miles from our Bokeelia home.

Hiya RB, I got a Shell Fuel Rewards card from the island garage once I'd used my WD fuel perks. Shell give 3c a gallon from the outset plus 25c a gallon perk at your next fill. After my first spend my account showed 20c per gallon, thought it should have been 25c, but, *shrug*. Filled the tank today, the lass advised 45c per gallon to come off. Guess that was my 25c sign up bonus but not sure where the 20c came from after only one fill up. Logged in tonight, today's purchase has placed 5c a gallon off to be used by the 31st May. Depending on your closest Shell might be worth getting a card at the garage. It's a quick sign up online and your card is immediately ready to use. They ask for a pin, which you'll find on the back of the card plus account number after scratching off the silver strip.

Did you change over to WD's Plenti? I did mine in-store and although it offers fuel perks at Mobil and Exxon you need 500 points for a $5 saving in gas. The nearst Mobil is around 15 mile off isle so we'll likely use our points against a WD shop. You can't use your Plenti until you've acquired 200 points.

We've just got back and have been shopping in Publix in Key Largo and Cape Coral. OUCH is all I am saying. I was shocked at how expensive their food was!
