US/UK duvet cover sizes

I'd love to buy some bedding while I am in Orlando but I have no idea what size to buy.

Is a US twin size the same as our double bed?

Anybody bought some in florida?

They don't seem to do bedding like ours with a seperate duvet and cover. They have it all in one and call it a comforter, then they use that on top of a sheet. Size wise our standard double is called a queen size, our king size is also king size.

Duvets are getting more popular here but nothing like you have there. You will find it sort of hit or miss. If you have the time you could take a look at JCPenney and have an order sent to the closest location to you and collect it while you are here.

Otherwise, check at any of the shops that carry bedding. I think you'll find duvets are available in the larger sizes and not the smaller twin sizes.

Take a look at this thread, gives all the size conversions.

Most cheaper brands and sets are comforters with the cover and quilt combined, but you can buy separate duvets and quilt covers in the large department stores.

All I know is that a "twin" is actually a single bed size, but the bedding is lovely if you have the space for it.

Hi,

I've bought Queen for my king size bed & a twin for my sons bed in the past. Both sets have been great and they were from Walmart.

JC Penney have some wonderful bedding sets, some sets include a valance, sheets, pillows, shams, comforter & matching cushions.
They are really great value for money and wonderful quality.

We're visiting the Florida Mall again next March - where is the best place to buy duvet covers there? Is JC Penney in the Florida Mall, sorry can't remember!

DS has a double bed and the sheet set we bought was "Full" which is a perfect fit. We couldn't find duvet covers anywhere, they had loads of comforters but I thought they'd be hassle to keep clean. They looked too big to put in the washing machine and I didn't fancy taking them to the cleaners every few weeks

Yes, Pennys are in the Mall (they also have a new shop at 'The Loop' which may be nearer depending on where you are staying).

Sears also have bedding at the florida mall, or if you go to 'The Loop', Bed Bath and Beyond have bedding.

We have bought a few sets back home, a single in the UK is called a 'Twin' over there, slightly different dimensions, but not enough that it doesnt fit a UK single bed.

A double in the UK is called a 'Full', a King in the UK is called a 'Queen', and what we call a 'Super King', they simply call a 'King'.

The 'bed in a bag' sets are quite good, you can get everything from the sheets to the comforter, pillowcases and even throw cushions in some cases, and they come in a tough plastic bag so you can just check them in at the airport as a piece of loggage.

Hope this helps!
