The whole day was a rather lovely blur - registry office ceremony as neither of us are religious, then off to a local hotel on the edge of Sefton Park in Liverpool for the reception and evening do. We had rock music played at the disco - a friend said it was the first time he’d ever seen the bride head-banging (to Paranoid by Black Sabbath)! Other things that stand out were one of the guests had his car broken into (nothing important taken) and the same guy running a sweep on the length of the best man’s speech. We are still together over 33 happy years later.

Absolutely gorgeous

We had our 19th wedding anniversary on 22nd Dec. I was torn between wanting it to snow and being worried it would cause havoc. Anyway once we’d done the church photos and got to the venue and had mulled wine accompanied by Christmas songs being played on the piano - it started to snow! Perfect timing! ❄️ 😍

DH and I on our wedding day 32 years ago ❤️

My grandma made my wedding dress, she was a seamstress and all of it was hand stitched.

We had a wonderful happy day, relaxed and filled with love and laughter.

We still laugh every day, and I love DH just as much today as I did then ❤️

Jane

Ours was 11th September 1982. DH never remembered the date till the towers went down however on the day a number of things were unforgettable.

DH and best man went to the church in a mini and his buttonhole snapped when he fastened his seat belt.

My flowers were completely wrong colour.

Wedding car was an estate car

And on the way to the reception we passed a golf course and the car was hit by a ball

We left later in the day for a flight to Jersey for our honeymoon, a lot of the family escorted us to the airport to see us off and my brother had got in our suitcases and filled it with confetti. Our room was covered in bits of coloured paper

For me the most memorable moment was seeing the Priest walk in to the Church He must have been at least 80 and I had suggested I sent a car to collect him but he said he would ride his push bike.

I honestly thought he wouldn’t turn up.

This was the the guy who called me a leper for marrying a good Catholic Girl!

40 years ago I remember the friend who was the owner of the restaurant where we had our reception handing me a large whisky when we walked in.

8th July 2018. Not long ago at all but all a happy blur. We had 60 guests.

I remember most chatting to friends and family at 11pm outside in the garden. It had been a super hot busy day and being able to finally chill out at the end of the day was an absolute highlight.

Lovely thread to read

Kissing the groom too early

We got married in Cuba, but didn't tell anyone. The service was in Spanish and translated into English. We kissed too early as she wasn't up to that part! Lovely day and wouldn't change a thing about it. Luckily parents took the news well and we are still going strong 15 years later.
