We had similar tops from Next a few years ago (age 7ish). They were plain colours but with lace trim and a bow.
Personally it really doesn't matter. In my local Asda people are out shopping in what are clearly pyjamas and no-one bars an eye lid so with shorts on holiday absolutely no problems |

We used to have a Pep & Co near work, but it closed. It was like a smaller version of Primark. I have a cardigan I got there about 4 years ago and it's kept in great shape, and DS had t-shirts which wash well without seams twisting. Was gutted when ours went as so did our Dotty P (Dorothy Perkins) and a shop called Shush which sold clothes from Next, Florence & Fred which the labels cut out.
In reply to the original question I think it's a vest, but it will look nice as a top and nobody would know. Edited at 08:15 AM. |

I'd say an underwear vest. My dd6 wore brightly coloured boys vests on our holiday, nobody knew or cared, she certainly didnt!

This was all cos my 5 year old asked why she was trying on a vest. I assumed it was a top cos I was told it was.
Will have to see when they get up |

The lace and bow makes me think it is a vest not a vest top. But it seems unusual to have such a highly patterned vest and a bit of a waste as it would make a nice top! In the photo the material also seems like it is fairly substantial and more top like then vest like. Hope that helped, although I doubt it.

I think it looks like a top - i would probably remove the little bow though completely
