I don’t have and refuse to use PayPal. I cannot see any benefit to me.
I Bank with one Bank and have done for over 54 years and use a large number of Credit Cards. Job done. I don’t need some PayPal thingy whatever it is.

You don't need a PayPal account to pay via it, you just pay by credit card into the vendors account. It allows small business owners to receive CC payments without the expense of their own card machine.
