USA: East and South Roadtrip

Coming upon us quick and fast now - not only are we moving out of our house this week (removers in tomorrow to Wednesday - while I'm out at work!) - but we are also embarking on what looks to be either a truly exciting or truly crazy trip with two tween/teens in the backseat ... it looks something like this:
3rd - fly into JFK stay overnight, pick up car on 4th - drive up to upstate NY to visit friends in their Catskills holiday house for 4th/5th.
Leave 6th for Niagara - stay overnight Canadian side.
Then, we have to be in Cambridge, Boston for 11-18 ... DH has been accepted on to a course in Harvard for that week and we have rented an apartment in Cambridge area for that week.
To get there, we will stay overnight in Syracuse, then drive on to the Berkshires where we will stop for two nights before heading over to a Doubletree outside Boston for 10th. We will drop car back on 12th and use public transport if we need it when in Boston.
So 11-18 in Boston is our biggest stop - kids (14yo DS; 10yo DD) and I will do all the touristy stuff there while DH is working hard we might get a train out to the coast one day - not sure yet.
18th - pick up car; drive on to Mystic on the coast, stay overnight thereabouts, drive on to NJ to sty overnight ready for a visit to Six Flags Great Adventure the next day (DS's addition!) before heading on to Philadelphia and Washington DC - not sure whether we will do two days in each yet - that's the initial plan.
Would quite like to get out to Lancaster to see the Amish villages there too.
On down to either Charleston or Savannah (or both) ahead of hitting the Gulf Coast in the Florida Panhandle where we've rented a little house for
five days from 28th July.
From there, overnight in Biloxi, then on to NOLA. Couple of days in NOLA ahead of a trip to Memphis, Nashville and then out of Atlanta on 9th August ...
The first parts of the trip are booked through hotels.com, various places and types of accommodation, and the rest is going to be left to chance in the spirit of adventure!

Wow, sounds like a great trip so far. We are hoping to do road trip in 2017, so will be following this thread with interest.

What a fab sounding trip - look forward to hearing how it goes!
We are off to DC on the 18th for 3 nights, then heading on a coaster tour, inc six flags America and Georgia, before going to Florida to recover.
