Covid relaxations - let’s go to Anglesey- 15th to 18th April 2021 !

As soon as Bojo said you could stop at self contained accommodation from 12th April , that was it !
Airbnb booked for 15th to 18th April near Rhosneigr on Anglesey for just the two of us .

This will mainly be a picture report but will hopefully give you a few ideas if you are stopping on the island .

Day 1 - Thursday 15th April

The day started with another post lockdown luxury - a haircut . As you can tell somewhat overdue

We couldn’t check into the Airbnb until 3 so after a 2+ hour drive , we spent a few hours on the north of the island
First stop was Beaumaris .
Quaint small town with ole worlde charm , a pier and a fair bit of history .

We did a bit of stone -skimming , wandered up the pier , had a walk round the town and - after booking a free ticket online outside the gates went into Beaumaris Castle ( not sure if it’s normally free, maybe just in these limited covid times )

We then had a little drive up to Red Wharf Bay. Unfortunately, pubs aren’t yet open in Wales ( not even outside ) so it was sad to see all the work the Ship Inn has clearly done ( marquees /huts outside ) to make things covid secure and yet they couldn’t have customers

Last stop was Benllech. A coastal village with a great beach to have a lovely stroll on

Then on to the Airbnb
A small studio ‘flat’ with an en-suite on a sheep farm.
Small but perfectly formed

Day 2 -Friday 16th April

So today we were going to do a treasure trail and explore Holy Island

treasuretrails/thi...sland-anglesey

First stop was Penrhos coastal park. A lovely little spot by the water . With a little pet cemetery and a great wooded area with red squirrels .

Then it was onto breakwater country park . A bit of history and a lovely pond but we spent most of our time here down at the little secluded cove beach

We then went onto South Stack

And finally on to Trearddur Bay after a brief stop at the stunning Drafarch Beach

Day 3 Saturday 17th April

Today Rhosneigr

The weather as you can tell had been perfect so time to take advantage and go to the beach

The beach was almost deserted first off . We ended having a 4 or 5 mile walk along the beach , though the sand dunes and alongside the airfield RAF Valley

We had to paddle through the streams

Who needs the Grand Canyon Horsehoe Bend when you have this in Rhosneigr

This plane looks like it has seen better days

Lunch was a traditional fish and chips sat on a bench by the sea .
Despite DW lack of smile , it was great to enjoy the simple things in life after the past 12 months

Then we just spent the afternoon chilling on the beach and admiring / dreaming of owning a boat that literally just drives itself out of the water and onto the beach

Day 4 Sunday 18th April

Time to pack up and drive home but enough time to spend a few hours at Newborough Forest and Llandwyn Island

Another stunning location

Just enough time on the way home to stop by the world famous Llanfair PG train station

It’s hard to tell which was more red though - the sign or my face - think the day on the beach was a bit too much !

If you got this far , thank you very much for reading

The U.K. is alive again !

To those who question holidaying in the U.K., just give it another try - you might be pleasantly surprised

So glad you enjoyed your break in here in Wales
Anglesey looks beautiful and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been despite living maybe an hour away
