A very late NYC trip report from June 2012

We soon arrived at JFK. We checked in again, waved good bye to our cases, issued with boarding cards and fast-track security passes. Security cleared we made our way to the Clubhouse. I was very excited about going in here as it had only just opened in JFK.

We chose a table overlooking some of the gates and were soon sipping champagne. Cue the obligatory photo!



We pursued the food menu as well as the clubhouse spa options. Toby had a haircut... sadly I was dilly-dallying around and someone pipped me to the last treatment!

My starter which was a seared beef.



It was lovely!

My main course was Chinese sesame chicken



Toby had the pulled pork sandwich



I had read about a dessert called The Kitchen Table which is made at your table so we had this to share. The end result



The popping candy really finished it off nicely

We got talking to another British couple in the lounge who had used their VFC miles to upgrade their flight on the way home and they were looking forward to experiencing UC for the first time.

We had some hot drinks

Hot chocolate for me and a cappuccino for Toby




Before too long it was time to board, but not before I had spotted Kelis on at the bar... ohh she was going to be on our flight!

We made our way to the aeroplane and were shown to our seats which were made up like this

We were soon pushing back and we were soon airborne. Silly me forgot to take some photos of Manhattan at nighttime! Oooops!

Our seats were soon made into beds if we wanted. Didn't have to ask me twice!

So while they were doing that I went to the bathroom and changed into my sleepsuit.

I settled down in my bed and was soon fast asleep.

Toby stayed up and had another dinner (taking full advantage he says! ) He had the veggie lasagne, lemon and vanilla cheesecake and watched quite a few films.

I slept so soundly. Toby woke me up about one hour before we landed so I could get changed before the rush. I knew we were going in to the revivals lounge so I wasn't worried about eating on the plane. Options available were breakfast cereals, bacon nutty, breakfast muffins and mango or mixed berry smoothie.

The landing was smooth and Kelis came up to our overhead locker as she had stored something in there so Toby gave her hand getting it out.

Passport control cleared and we headed off to the Revivals Lounge. Now this was lovely. Toby and I were shown to separate bathrooms and were able to have showers, put fresh clothes on and then able to have a breakfast before we made our way home.

I met Toby in the eating area and he had ordered full English breakfasts for both of us

Drinkswise Toby had a cappuccino



and he ordered me a hot chocolate with the works!



Again treatments here are complimentary. I didn't really fancy anything so Toby had a shave which he really enjoyed.

We soon left the lounge and made our way over to our car and started our journey home.

My mum had had this made for me



Hmm, cake and a cup of tea. A perfect end to a perfect holiday.

We had an amazing time and it has been really nice sharing my trip report with you all and I will always remember going to New York as part of my 30th birthday celebrations. The highlights for me were TOTR on our first night- I shall never forget seeing the city light up as it did, The View restaurant and boating in Central Park to name a few. I cannot wait to go back in August with my boys to make some amazing memories with them.
