Prices seem SOOOOO much higher now?!
We’re looking at a 2022 trip and compared to our quotes from 2019 prices (and previous trips!) seem to have just sky rocketed
2019 I had quotes around £2750 for a moderate hotel with DDP and £4000 for wilderness lodge (where we ended up going)... If I trawl through old emails I’ve got quotes for a 2016 trip with 12 nights at beach club with DDP & flights coming in at just over £4200. I’ve been getting quotes in for deluxe hotels for next year and they’re starting at £6200+ ... for just room with no tickets, or flights and of course no DDP or Fastpass + Am I the only one thinking these prices seem massively inflated?!?

Try pricing up an Orlando holiday without Disney and the prices will be the same or even lower compared to 2019 due to the pound gaining strength against the dollar.
Sea world/Busch and even universal are still good value |

Demand for next year will be significantly higher given the fact that there will be people like me who were supposed to go last year but couldn’t, supposed to go this year but couldn’t and are now hoping to go next year. Increase in demand = increase in price sadly.😢

Looking at my cancelled 2018 trip to YC, the biggest issue I'm having is finding standard or even garden view rooms - every date I try is water view only - which is over-inflating the comparison price. The closest I can get is BC on slightly shifted dates, but it should be similar enough to compare as these resorts are typically close in price and the water view room value didn't change on the new dates so it's in the same banding. My YC room was £363/night in 2018, the same category at BC for 2022 is £428. So roughly 18% increase in 4 years, which is about what I would expect.
I am seeing a bigger change in the moderates. My 2019 CSR trip was £209/night, the same room on the same dates is £297 for 2022 - that's 40% more in 3 years. That was a preferred room but checked the standard prices as well and even those have gone up 30%. That's the main reason I downgraded tiers. While I like the resort, it's not worth that much more per night for me. Edited at 05:17 PM. |

Yup - it’s really expensive. Pent up demand for next year and therefore no massive incentives. And the 50th anniversary. We are rescheduling to 2023 and hoping for MUCH better offers for onsite stays.

Thanks guys, really interesting.
I think we may downgrade tiers at least for this trip. But need to think about it. May just stick with our plan to go to Hong Kong instead!

Quite a few reasons why.
Disney 50th Anniversary will increase crowds Not all hotels are fully opened and may not be Big loss of staff who moved home for the furlough, tgeyvare crying out for staff all 9ver Orlando Dreaded covid has to be paid for Airlines have reduced aircraft, reduced size of aircraft Car hire companies haven’t replaced cars and now can’t get new models due to electronic shortages

That’s the same as us, was supposed to go aug 20, changed to feb 21, then august 21 and now given up on this year so booked for next year instead but we won’t be doing anything big Disney wise. So won’t be paying those prices either way!

Our 2022 holiday is coming in at approximately £1,000 more than our 2020 cancelled trip. There are 2 factors driving our price increase.
1) Flight costs have increased approximately £200 per person for our PE return flights. For us this is offset a bit as we will fly from Heathrow which is very close so we are saving money as no hotel needed the night before and no parking costs. 2) Hotel is approximately £600 more for 12 nights. AKL isn't bookable so we've ended up a Beach Club which always costs more than AKL. Given that we've also lost free dining it does feel like a big increase but we're willing to pay. Interestingly I priced up an Italy holiday we took in September 2020 for September 2022 and the price increase is roughly 25%! |

So we booked 2022 flights when they were released (despite not knowing if our June 2021 ones would go ahead) JUST because we knew flights would sky rocket. Our 2021 TUI flight only booking is now an all inclusive holiday in Mallorca, so our money is safer and it can be changed depending on cases and lists!
About 2 weeks later, the price was around 300pp more (we got 530pp) We did the same with our car booking, as soon as we knew our June 2021 flights were cancelled, we cancelled our car and rebooked for 2022... we have a 7 seater from Alamo, for 3 weeks for £753. I checked about a week ago... and it was over £1400 for the same dates. Absolute daylight robbery. It would make more sense to keep prices similar, then more people will travel. Edited at 10:47 PM. |
