Dibbers, I need help planning our kitchen.

Ignore colours, flooring and chairs but that's what I am looking at in terms of layout.

If I was looking at your kitchen in terms of buying your house I know the sink in the Island would totally put DH off as way to different, and to be honest I am not liking it either. I have bits I hand wash and leave on the drainer, to me that would make the whole kitchen untidy

In our house that would mean a lot of dishes would get put next to the sink and the island would end up cluttered with dirty dishes. If your family will put them straight in the dishwasher that might not be an issue? I’d rather have the island clear or for cooking snd keep the sink out of the way.

I have had a sink in the kitchen island before, I didn’t know this was controversial, it was fine.

I am not sure where else, other than the island, the sink would go in your model.

Personally I wouldn't want a sink in my island particularly if using it with seats as your photo.

We have an island and sit and eat, relax and chat. There's only cupboards in mine. It's a great family together space.

Additionally I wouldn't put a dishwasher in it as the vibration would be annoying if sitting at the island.

If it’s not by the window, what will you stare at whilst washing up? 😅

OP. Have you considered how much of the floor you will digging up to get not only the water and electrics in to the Island but more importantly the waste out.

Getting the services in isn't that hard. You will need a decent fall for the outlet though and once the pipe is buried and concreted over that's it. Any issue in the future and you will be digging up the floor again
The fall you want in my view is 1 in 40.

Thus for every 40cm length you drop 1cm

I was thinking like Tom, how would the waste water get away as this would involve a lot of digging, extra work and therefore cost.
Wherever possible, I would leave the services where they are (ie Water for sink and dishwasher next to, electric or gas for hob etc)
