Universal value hotels - which one?

I was convinced I wanted one of the hotels where you get express passes included and didn’t even consider any of the other Universal hotels. But I watched a vlog last week where they stayed at Cabana Bay with a volcano view room and it looked amazing. And so much cheaper than HRH for example.

I am seriously considering staying at Cabana Bay for our next trip. We are hoping to get annual passes so get express passes after 4pm. Does anyone know if they are needed in the day early May? If we need to buy them we may aswell stay in one of the hotels where you get them free.

How long are you staying and how many park days will you have? That's more likely to decide whether you need Express Passes than anything else. Only a night or two (especially over a weekend) you might. But if staying for a week or two, you wouldn't need them as can easily get around in that time. Especially in early May which only has moderate crowds.

Also if you're happy to use single rider, these are typically faster than the express queue.

Thank you. We are thinking of staying 4 or 5 nights. We will be there for 21 nights in total but will be at Disney for the rest of the trip.

Also another perk of staying at cabana Bay over the other 2 is that you can use the pools at all the other hotels.

The Royal Pacific has a fab pool btw

We are booked in at aventura for 2 weeks in sept but if that gets cancelled we have rebooked may 22 for 10 nights at pop century followed by 4 nights at aventura.

This worked out to a similar cost to 14 nights at all stars and the added benefit of the skyliner

Oh wow, I didn’t realise that- that’s a good selling point.
