We tend to take hard shell spinners with integrated TSA combi locks. For years we took holdalls as they could squish into the boot of the hire car easier. Now we just travel lighter!

I love tk maxx for luggage this time of year. We have a loft full of cases (esp hand luggage as the sizes vary so much).

I’ve seen it happen at Manchester airport more than once, usually because of delays getting the cases in the hold or the doors not co-operating. When the weather really changes for the worst we’ve seen the baggage handlers rush back indoors after all it’s a strong possibility of attracting lightning bolts when it gets very nasty and no one wants to risk being out in that type of weather front. It’s one of the reasons I’m considering waterproof packing cubes for future trips.

I've had both in the past but currently have soft, prefer the fact that they are lighter and we aren't the kind of people who shop much on holiday so aren't normally bringing back fragile or breakable stuff.

We have rubber shell cases and they are amazing. They flex rather than breaking and are totally waterproof

What make are those?
I’ve seen hard cases and soft ones. I’m intrigued by rubber shell cases...

Love my Tripp yellow minions as I call them. Just back from island hopping in Greece. 5 different locations plane ferry taxi catamarans. Couple of scuffs but so easy to wheel. My friend had a very lightweight wheeled case. Something burst in her case covering all her clothes and I lost count how many times it fell over en route.

Hard shell all the way. We always buy Tripp cases (they are permanently on offer too). I know they weigh a bit more but, when you're talking Florida, the clothes don't weigh that much anyway!

The ones we have are Eagle, we got them as a set of 4, they have 4 wheels and having had them for 5-6 years I have to say they have sustained no damage other than light scuffing. The wheels clip in and out so that they don’t snap off too. Best cases we’ve ever had
