We've done this for years - don't forget though that there are 51 as District of Columbia issues one as well.

Similarly you can collect state quarters. It's taken us about 10 years but last April we got Texas which was the last one we needed. The US territories such as USVI and Porto Rica also do them

rather than a spot the game we do things like:
hats around the world in epcot - get a photo at each pvaillion wearing a 'traditional' hat
hidden mickey hunting in all the parks
mountains challenge - ride space, btm, splash sdmt, expedition everest in a day (yes requires park hopping)
ride all the rides in a park in a day
drinking (or eating) around the world show case - alcoholic drink or snack food from each pavillion in a day

We also play guess the nationality lol

Your post just reminded me of when we saw a mature lady in very high heels (& dolled up to the nines in a long maxi dress, jacket & posh hat) in AK. She had a job to walk & looked exhausted. The rest of her party were in usual shorts & tees though. Very strange I thought.
