Thank you that’s really sweet. I’d have loved to contact the health visitor but I don’t know their names even or anything about them. I don’t know the surgery and there are at least three local ones in opposite directions.
I hate to think that I’m getting them into trouble and I honestly said that several times but I hate the potential consequences for that poor baby by doing nothing even more. |

Thank you. I’m honestly shaking a bit at what I’ve done, but i must think about how I’d have felt if I heard that the little one was seriously injured or died because I sat back and did nothing.

They carry the baby out in the seat so definitely not isofix but if it is a proper seat I can’t understand why they don’t use the seat belt. My only thought is that there may only be two front seats and a kind of drinks ledge thing and that’s what the baby seat sits on?

You've absolutely done the right thing, have a cuppa and rest them nerves knowing you have helped the family without causing tension.

I had a belted car seat base when using an infant carrier. So the base bit stayed in the car belted in and then the baby carrier just sat on top of it clipped in.
So it could look like I just placed the seat in the car and not strapping it in. Either way it can never hurt for someone to check car seats and make sure they are correctly installed. Hopefully all is ok and if not they can hopefully show them the correct way. |

It’s a really tricky one and I’ve been in your position. There’s a woman on my school run who holds her tiny baby on her knee, it makes me feel sick looking at them. Equally there’s people I know who use car seats that in an accident would crumble, they literally may as well not bother - supermarket/disney brand ones, they’re just death traps. I also see a child minded do some really dodgy practices like leaving 4 or 5 babies strapped into car seats as she does the school run with the older kids. She has a helper but they are over the road away from the car. Other day I spotted a tiny baby FF in front with a bottle of milk propped in its mouth. The child was literally tiny, it’s so dangerous. But I just don’t know what you can do, people don’t like to be told and take massive offence. It’s a tough one and I don’t have advice really, more here for the comments.
ETA. Just saw your update - well done you! Think I’ll do the same next time I see the car with the baby not strapped in, I’ll get the reg. Edited at 06:56 PM. |

Its it possible there is an isofix base in the van already?
But regardless you mentioned baby on the lap and that’s never a good idea. |

Thank you everyone. It’s been a very tough choice and I agree with car seats it’s difficult to tell, but just as often the baby is on their laps. Thank you to everyone for the support.
