What age were your children when you went on holiday and left them at home?
We’re just back from our holiday which I think will be our last big one as a family of 4, currently myself, dh, ds 19 and dd 16.
Ds was a bit of a pain at times on holiday with his moaning and tbh I think he would rather have been at home. DD really missed the dog So for the first time I’m wondering if we should consider a trip without them. I know they are quite old enough to be left but at the moment can’t really get my head around it, so just interested in hearing how and when other people took this leap!

Hi, mine are the same age, we have just been in holiday with my 16 year old daughter after GCSEs and left my son at home
He was working so all was fine, and there were no parties However I don’t think I would leave my daughter as I can imagine our house may turn into party central We are all going on holiday at the end of August Not sure what everyone wants to do next year yet but I think my daughter will be coming with us!😂 |

Definitely!
I took my 10 year old sister to DLP when I was 18 😂. I was also 18 when mum and dad went away on their own for their honeymoon.

Yep, 18, they will much prefer having a house to themselves than a holiday! Lol
Unfortunately my older sister was always at home when my parents went away, and she was stricter than my mum! 😫😫 |

Son is 21 and shows no sign of not wanting to come with us ! He hasn’t come on UK holidays from being 16 but if it’s abroad he still wants to. Daughter 14 is on a school trip next August for a week so we are having our first couple holiday for 22 years. I do feel a bit guilty telling him he isn’t coming.
What I can’t wait for is term time bargain holidays ! |

First holiday without the kids, eldest was 17 & youngest 15, but he went skiing with the school so we went for a week.
We had a great time, did feel a little bit guilty as I love taking them on holiday it’s the whole point of being a family to have memories together Only blip was being woken up at 6am🙄with a phone call asking” where’s the tin opener?” 😳🙊I said phone us if you have an emergency |

Ours are DS 21 and DD 18.
DH and I went to Lanzarote earlier this year for our 25th wedding anniversary and that was the first time we’d left them apart from the odd night as they’ve always wanted to come with us. We’ve just come back from Majorca - DS came along but DD stayed home as she’s off to Salou with her bf next month.

Yes! Term time bargains especially when you’re only paying for 2!

Girls are 16, 17 in September. They are coming away with us for a British holiday in the caravan this year (as well as going to France with NCS) but I think this might be our last UK break. They are still happy to come abroad at the moment, planning a week away in October and Florida or California next summer. Husband and I are planning a few weekends away on our own. We are happy to leave the girls, thankfully wild parties aren’t their style!
