We have done it a couple of times , I love Toronto so always pleasnat for me to go through there .
It is the only place though that my DH was questioned about his lack of US ESTA ... luckily I had them printed off so we breathed a huge sigh of relief when they said 'oh its ok we found it "
We actually keep our Canadian ETA running concurrently with our ESTA in case deals come up or we fancy a trip to Canada.

Plus I love going as a domestic passenger to Florida...

It does'nt apply to you OP as you are planning a Summer trip but for others reading be very cautious about doing the route in Winter , been stranded in Toronto in deep snow and ended up getting re-routed home via Detroit with a seven hour layover , that was tiring .

This is what we would like to do, but thought I would have to book a separate flight to Orlando from Toronto.

The flight is with Air Canada Rouge, so I know what to expect from the reviews I have read. I know they don't have seatback entertaiment and that I need to have their app to stream stuff. At least we will be prepared for that.

I booked last night and we're arriving and departing from the same terminal so hopefully that makes things easier also.
Is the whole leg with Air Canada Rouge? Or just the Toronto/Orlando leg?

I wished I had thought about this now. The great flight prices I saw have now gone up but I’ll keep an eye out again as I would love to spend a few days in Canada.

What is your layover time? We did it a few years ago and took ages to clear both Canadian and American Immigration. We had 4 hours so 2 hrs for Immigration, got food and drink then went to gate. From what I remember we didn't have too long to wait.
