You might like to request a ground floor room - they have a small patio area instead.

When our kids were very small it was a must have. They went to bed early and it gave us somewhere to sit and chill without disturbing them. Now that they are a bit older we don’t “need” it as much, but I’d usually prefer to have one if we can.

On a European beach holiday a balcony is a must. But at Disney we don’t need one and if we had one, it’s doubtful we’d use it. We’re either out, in the shower or in bed.

Depends on my day, if we are back at a reasonable time we like to sit and chill with a glass of wine.

For us, as a couple without children, it’s not something that we have bothered with. We love POFQ and have never missed a balcony. There is always somewhere else to be!
However, I can see that if you have children, and you are back at your accommodation for nap/bedtime, having a balcony to sit on could be a big plus.

We had a huge balcony at OKW and while it was nice I wouldn't choose a hotel based on it having one or not as we didn't actually spend that long in the room. Its largely down to how you are a family really though as some people spend longer in their rooms or if you have to let children nap etc

We love to have one.
Sounds ridiculous but it’s great for drying swimwear and towels and spraying suncream without gassing everyone! Also nice to sit and relax on too! I feel quite claustrophobic in a room without a balcony for some reason

I loved sitting on our balcony at OKW eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast and watching the golfers go by below us. And at BLT, eating ice cream, watching the Astro Orbiters in the background and the occasional faint toot of a train horn

For you I'd say you'd get a lot of use from a balcony, but only you would know whether that would be worth paying any differences (and whether the balcony resorts are what you'd prefer as to my mind they have a slightly more upmarket feel to them - pros and cons to that.)
Personally we aren't bothered about balconies but that's because we are all adults and there is a max of 2 people to a room. Last year I sat by the HUGE window at RPR and looked out over the pool, IoA and towards Orlando in the distance. A very interesting view (I like things to look at, not just a lake or something.) Not only that, but I was able to read my book with a table next to me for drinks/snacks and enjoy the air con whilst doing so. I'm not sure I'd have been as peaceful in 32 C 90%+ humidity.
