New shoes - painful!
I have never been a ‘shoe’ kind of girl and hate having to buy new shoes.
In summer I live in my havianas and in winter my boots. Recently I bought some leather trainer type shoe, felt comfy but as soon as I wore them they ripped the back of my feet to bits! Today I wore some merrell sandals which I brought back from Florida and again one of the straps has rubbed and given a blister... I thought these were very comfortable too! Ouch Does anyone else have this problem? I even used some of that compeed stick on the trainer ones but put it on after they started rubbing and it didn’t help but that may have been a case of putting it on too late!

I do. Every shoe rubs me horribly at first, even Vans and Converse. I have weird lumps on the back of my heels and they happen to sit exactly where shoes do.
I like to wear them round the house to break them in while wearing massive fluffy socks. I just wear them until I can’t stand to any more and eventually they soften up. With leather shoes you can also use the handle of a broom to stretch them (amazing advice given to me considering I love Doc Martens which are the worst for rubbing!) |

Compeed blister plasters on the bits you know will rub work wonders,I always break the backs on new shoes before I wear them though,by bending the heel till it's not so hard.

I do all the time! I recently bought some boots which rubbed and nothing worked so I tried some moleskin, just suck it on where they hurt and that works, might be worth a try?

Due to swelling as a result of lymphoedema I buy footwear for problem feet from a company called Cosyfeet. They're not cheap but I've never had any problems with rubbing, blisters, anything. I get sandals and normal leather shoes from them.

I tend to always have to wear new shoes in, the only ones that I haven’t are my fit flops and my sketchers go walk.
I spent a lot of time in preparation for this holiday wearing my holiday shoes walking home from work each day!

Decent shoes often do this and take patience to "run in".

Ultimate Performance Skin Shield; bought on Amazon, a roll on silicone/aloe vera barrier between your skin & leather/fabric etc; amazing stuff.
