Beach Club early January
Hi dibbers,
Sorry to ramble but have a couple of questions re our upcoming trip in Jan. So we finally jumped in and booked the Beach Club for my 50th birthday flying out Thur 02/01/20 (birthday is 03/01), having a bit of a wobble looking at the touring plans crowd calendar which is showing a 10 for the first 4 days ( I suppose this is a carry over from the Xmas & NY crowds?) Is it really that busy at that time? We have got the free ding offer and a garden view room but was looking to upgrade to a water view but none available on the dining plan, does anybody know if it’s feasible that they may become available at a later date ( also looking for Yacht Club for our dates due to the guaranteed balcony which only has a grand suite left to book for 23k! ouch. Last question, do any regulars at the resort think the new Skyliner will affect the access to the International Gateway forr people on the Epcot resorts? It’s our first time here and I can’t help worrying that the extra 4 hotels worth of guests entering at the same time will negate the benefit of staying at the Beach Club! Many thanks in advance and apologies if this thread is a bit rambling 🤪

Regardless of how many people are coming off a gondola trip, you’ll still be walking there, so the location is very much worth it!
The new year- Christmas week is the busiest time of year, so yes the first day or two of your stay will be busy... then the following week sees the first marathon weekend of the year, so hotels will be pretty fully booked for that too! If you’re looking for rooms on the Disney uk site... consider looking elsewhere. If there’s room only discounts to be had they may well be better than your free dining offer (even when losing your £200 deposit). |

Many thanks Mark... funny, looking into it it says that the hotels are busy marathon weekend but the park crowd levels don’t look too bad.

this will be our first stay at an Epcot resort and I’m a bit gutted that half of Epcot will be under construction when we go😭
It was a toss up between Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge Courtyard view at the same price (which we love) but as we’ve stayed there we went for the BC option.

I would definitely be prepared for very busy parks if I were travelling at this time, it is widely reported that this is one of the busiest times of year.
The gondola system seems likely to result in the bag check and entry process taking a bit longer, but I wouldn’t say it negates the location advantage. Epcot is our least favourite park but even we think it is a good spot with easy access to Epcot, HS and the Boardwalk, we also found the bus services very good (we were at YC). |

Thank you Claudette, we are hoping that something becomes available at the Yacht club on the dining plan before we leave so that we can guarantee a balcony, not a deal breaker but would be nice.

I would definitely pick the YC over BC if there was a choice. It is my 50th next year too, we will be in New York on the day and then staying at OKW afterwards. I am worried about staying at a sprawling resort now though and would love to get YC again, £18k for my dates though.
