Mobile Return Flight via AMS

Hi,

This return flight option with 3 hr 25 connection is coming out at a good price for us.

Has anyone done it?
Would I need to recheck bags if on a codeshare?
Do we do imagration there?
Any other tips or potential issues?

Thanks so much!

The major potential issue is that no one knows how no deal brexit will affect flight connections for UK nationals in EU airports (because the last time this was an issue was before mass air travel)

I wouldn't be booking ant indirect that had a changeover in the EU until we understand what our rights will be in this regard after Oct 31

If you are flying in from the US and out to the UK (and vice versa) you stay airside in the non-Schengen area of the airport so no requirement for immigration or re-check. Our bags were checked all the way through both ways (VS booking on KLM/Delta operated flights)

Amsterdam is very easy to change flights, bags should be checked through and you just need to find the new gate. 3h 25 would be loads of time.

Schiphol also has a good app for tracking your flight(s) and gate numbers. Whilst staff at CWL were insistent our flight was on time - we were kept up to date on our revised eta and gate changes.

I'm assuming this is a Delta to KLM connection, which means that you won't have to recheck bags if it's booked on one ticket. You would likely have to go through security and simply proceed to your gate. As the UK is not a Schengen country you shouldn't have to go through immigration here, unless you want to step outside of the non-Schengen area.

Whatever happens with Brexit has zero effect on this connection, as the UK is not a Schengen country. Unlike in the US, you can connect between non-Schengen flights in an EU airport without ever officially entering the country. As long as the OP has no desire to go outside the transit area, or step into the Schengen area (B and C gates) it does not matter what happens with Brexit.

Brexit will have zero effect. Please don’t try and scare people. The information is quite clear regarding travel. We have bever been part of the EU free travel area.
