Beach Resorts

We are doing one week Orlando and one week coast next year. It’s all down to me to book, but have only ever stayed in Clearwater which we have loved. We found enough to do without it being to quiet, however thought we would have a change.
Would love a beach view, can anyone recommend a resort. I know Anna Maria Island is popular on here, just wondering is there a better part of the Island to stay and is there enough to do in the evenings?
There are 4 of us all adults.

Have a look at Bradenton we stayed at the Shorewalk Vacation Villas over xmas, only 20 mins to Anna Marie, just a bit further to Sarasota but we had the best of both worlds visiting laid back beaches and having a bit of hustle and bustle on your doorstep.
