EU Compensation

Don’t want to get into the rights and wrongs on this but does anyone know if you are eligible if you fly on a non EU carrier? We flew AA although we booked and paid via BA, just spoken to BA who said they’re not sure we’re eligible as it’s an AA flight.

We lost a day due to technical issues with aircraft outbound.

If flying out from within the EU, you're eligible with any carrier. If flying back, you're only eligible if flying with an EU airline.

Not quite.

With a deal it would, without one we can't force airlines that are not domiciled in the UK to adhere to those rules. So we would be fine for BA and Virgin but Lufthansa, Air France, KLM and Art Lingus would no longer be bound by them for UK passengers.

So when they need to cancel a flight to Europe for operational reasons in the future I wonder which countries flights will be disproportionately affected, the one where those airlines don't have to pay compensation or the flights to any of the other 27 where they would have to pay...
