Mobile Which hotel/resort with a one year old?

Hi,

We are going to take our baby boy for his first birthday and are trying to decide where to stay.

Davy crockets cabins appeal due to the mini kitchen area and extra space but it's a pain having to drive to the parks.

The appeal of being able to walk back from the parks is swinging me towards New York etc...

Any advice? For anyone who has taken a wee one, are there places to heat up food for them anywhere?

At his age I wouldn't worry too much about the walking distance, he'll be in his pram all day so the difference between a 5 minute walk to the New York and 20 to Santa Fe doesn't really matter to baby. Just pick the one you like.

The baby care centres in the parks will have microwaves. When we took our 14 month old he was able to eat lots of food from the buffet restaurants.

We took our 1yr old and stayed in Sequoia Lodge in a Golden Forrest room - was perfect for us, it was really easy only having a 10 min walk to the park each day.

Have a fab time

Oh another tip. It's a lot easier to use baby milk when you're out there. Either the ready made cartons or powder and the kettle in your room. Nice cows milk isn't easy to get, it's all yukky UHT stuff. So hold off weaning onto cows milk until you come back or do what we did and wean back onto baby milk!

That's really useful to know, thank you!

Just looked at those rooms, they look great! Did you use the lounge a lot? What was the 'American breakfast' like?

We used the lounge daily when we did Golden Forest (and compass club in Newport Bay). It's lovely to have another room to go and sit in with the baby. Also if one parent is up in the room with a sleeping baby the other could go and grab a drink and a sit in peace. You could always use the bar area but the lounges are free and quiet.

We've just got back with our one year old and stayed at sequoia lodge. The location was fab, would also have considered staying in New York as it's a little closer. If we went again I'd stay on site again it just makes it so much easier with the baby and the pram.

We're going when our little boy will be 11 months. Chose sequoia lodge for cosy feel and proximity to park.
