Disneys Oak Trail Golf Course
I'm trying to organise a couple of "boys" days when we go. We have a 21 day Disney ticket and I see you can play this course. DH loves his golf and I'm wondering if this course is good or is there a better course? The only course he's played before in Florida was Highlands Reserve. He won't be taking his clubs, just hiring. Thanks in advance

I think Oak Trail is only a nine hole course.

The course is OK, not fantastic but OK.
There are far better around about but bear in mind that other than club hire & some balls this will be free. Last time we went I took the lads on with me and they loved it as they were just starting to play and there was no pressure on them. It's a walking course, no buggies, so you don't tend to get that many players on it. Have a great trip!

Possibly the only walking course in Orlando as well!
My DH always books a day or two ahead through golf now online. They have great deals on really good courses.

Excited about Disney

Off 9, he should be comfortable anywhere.
My view, unless you are onsite with no car, then the Disney Courses should be avoided. I consider them over-rated and generally over-priced. Grand Cypress, Orange County National and Southern Dunes would top my list of "local" courses. Some other great courses further out - RedTail, Eagle Creek, Bella Colina, Mission Inn and for a real treat World Woods - but that is a 90 minute drive! As mentioned - use golfnow.com for bargain rate tee-times

Hi golf mad has it well summed up. The only places I would add locally would be champions gate and grand pines. Grand cypress is very good and we have stayed there 5/6 times this last few years. We would usually do 10 nights OKW and follow this with 6 nights at grand cypress which although only 4/5 mins away from DDT it is an oasis of calm and beautiful setting. If you have not booked all your accomodation it would be a nice treat for hubby and worth considering in the future
