Kennedy space center on launch day?

Looking to book tickets for launch day. Do we have to book specific packages to get a good view? Or any tips?

From what I remember you can only book special tickets on a launch day, has been a good few years since I did it though so might be wrong. We could only go via coach too and had to leave very early.

We went in 2007 and saw a shuttle launch at KSC and booked a special ticket. The last I heard they are only doing rocket launches now not manned shuttle launches but it is a while back since I looked

It was one of the best experiences we have ever had, dispite the 5 hour drive back go orlando. We drove ourselves

You don't need a special ticket. Not now it's just rockets launching.
When you get there you can pay $20 each extra to get the bus to Banana Creek for a better view or just watch from the visitor center

didnt need one last time we went in 2012, be prepared fore the launch to be delayed though, they rarely happen on time, we missed it last time as we planned to go the day a launch was planned, it got delayed, about 1/2 hour before the launch to the next day, watched it from Magik Kingdom instead

As previous posters have said launches are cancelled or rescheduled all the time, many times with minutes to go.

Years ago when the shuttles were flying we drove over launch day, with some visitors from England, cancelled - took us four hours to get home, next day same thing, and the third day but only took us two hours to get home, fourth day visitors decided not to go, we went, most spectacular evening launch - 45 minutes to get home, no one else there.
