Actually Phild is in theory correct. Richard Branson has sent a letter to all staff informing them that unless the Government give them a £500 million bailout sooner rather than later then yes they will go into administration.

By saying 'shortly' it covers any period of time, weeks, months.

Interesting times ahead. Wonder if BA have their fingers crossed!

Now if he had said "in financial difficulty and pending a government bailout" thats fine. But trying to state folding is inevitable isnt the right way to do it.

There is that, but then it pretty much gives BA the monopoly for UK carriers and prices to the US could shoot up.

Not sure Delta will step in. Doing the rounds on CNN and CBS is the story that the $5 million the US government gave Delta is being used to buy shares back.

Technically he is not correct, as Richard Branson has requested a £500 million commercial loan, and not a ‘bail out’.

And yes, I am worried about rebooking flights with them, but I would rather book and be able to claim if they go bust than apply for a refund and be stuck.

Why wont it help. The financial state of Virgin Atlantic is relevant information to anyone thinking of booking with them.

There are plenty of other airlines fly from the UK to the US.
