Underwater Housing

I am thinking of investing in underwater housing for my camera before our next trip.

It is Sony DSC W200, just a point & shoot. But I love it and have some amazing pics from it.

Just wondering has anyone used housing for their camera and were the shots as good as those taken without housing.

And is your camera fully safe in it.

I have just ordered myself a housing for my Casio Exlim s770 off ebay last Thurdsay. Ironically it's being posted from Florida!

I have not yet had it but for £30 it's worth ago. I went diving of Tortola (British Virgin Island) in the caribbean last November and one of the lads in the party had one for his camera and said very good things about it. We dove to 40ft and he has no problems with it.

I felt with the water parks it will be great to use to get some otherwise unobtainable shots. I have booked the photpass CD this year so I know I will get some off them but they are not around all the time are they!

I will certainly report back once tried.

The one I had been looking at in B&H was over $250 and was sort of like a big box, however I have just been on Ebay and seen ones which are sort of like bags or cases to put your camera into and only cost $30.

Sony make 2 different types of housing for their cameras

Sports pack-model numbers begin SPK-**
these are waterproof to about 15 feet suitable for waterparks and swimming pool shots

Marine pack-model numbers begin MPK-**
proper diving cases suitable for depths up to 40m

I have a Sony DSC-L1 camera and i got sports pack for it off ebay for £12(recommended price £70)
the pictures come out perfect and the camera case is completely waterproof

looked at those bag things but not sure how good the shots would be as your camera could move in it.In the Sony case the camera does not move about and you can still access all buttons.

just had a google for your model and the marine pack is on Amazon for just over £100,the sports pack would be cheaper but cant find the right one for your model of camera

I also have a sony underwater camera(again from good old ebay)model DSC U60 which can be used underwater on its own(no housing needed) but its only 2mp-still takes great shots though-has been down teamboat springs many times!

hope you find what you need

I have a Sony SR1 camera, and was not able to find an underwater case for it last summer. (Not looked recently.)

I would trust the genuine ones, and would assume my insurance covered it anyway.

I have a Sony Sports Pack case for my DSC-W35 - DD used it last year in the water parks, results were very good and camera remained bone dry.

Can only see a marine pack for the w200 and all prices I can see are £100 or above

Pentax W30 is OK for use up to 3 metres underwater
