Learning disability/ Downs

Hello all, My DH have a LM [lovely man] who has come to live with us. Want to book a holiday to Lanzarote for the three of us. Booking with xl.com on net, they never answer the phone so i cant ask them if it is ok for three of us to book extra legroom seats? I know it states that people using these seats should be able bodied and not overweight which Tim isnt. Also been told that if we book seats and then cabin crew think we are not suitable to sit there we will be moved and i just wondered if this was the case do you think we would get a refund?
Many thanks Nina

I know the seats are for able bodied adults but not sure how this stands with your LM. Could you try ringing the airline direct as they would have more information.

Caron

Hiya - my DH and I did what was called "lifeshare" for nearly 6 years, with a LM of our own, plus a LL (Lovely lady), both of whom had downs. We took them to Greece twice, and in each case, we phoned the airlines in advance, to request certain things that would make the journey easier for them, and the companies knocked themselves out to help I would contact the airline as Caron says, explain, see what they say and if they say all is OK, as an added precaution, request from the airline definate guidelines/reasons for potentially refusing anyone being allowed to sit in these seats, and then ask his GP for a letter confirming that he meets the guidelines/that there is no medical reason for him to be refused... if the airline then refuse, they are on very dodgy ground, and at the very least, a refund should be in order

Hope this helps

Love Suexx

Button, just to add to Sues post. Please make sure your holiday insurance company is aware of your situation.
My clients (horrible phrase) had a holiday planned for this year, but when the insurance company found out of the disabilities the cost went up, so they couldn't afford to go.
Thankfully better arangements have now been made.

Hope you all enjoy the trip

Sean
