checking in online with special needs?
Hi I wondered if anyone can tell me if it is possible to check in online if you have party members with special requests? My DF will be taking his wheelchair when we fly with Virgin in August, I will be requesting special assistance in advance. Also my DM will need to borrow an airport wheelchair. Will it still be possible to do online check-in and where will we get the airport wheelchair from? Also, our bags are normally tagged with blue disabled tags. Will I still need to join the usual queue?

When you contact them to request assistance, ask what the procedure will be, they must have come across this before.
There is uaually a designated meeting point for disabled passengers who have asked for assistance and for those needing wheelchairs. Maybe you can get the wheelchair tagged at the gate rather than having to wait in the check in queue as that kind of defeats the purpose of checking in online. |

When I've asked Virgin before they said it is not possible to check in online if you have requested special assistance.

I booked with TCD and they send me form for special needs in near times about two or three weeks before we were leaving for Florida.
I think maybe Virgin will send out the form to you when the near time. And queue in airport, you don't have to be in queue and just going to desk when the flight is ready and you will get in before the queue. Scottishwee35

We couldn't use on-line check in last time (2004) with Virgin due to special needs requests.
Virgin send out a special needs request form as soon as they receive your booking. We needed DS2 Consultant to complete one part of the form and we completed the other part with requests that we would like. You could request bulk head seats if available to give your DF more room. Caron

we haven,t been able to do online check-in, but virgin gave us a specail assistance pass so we could check in in first class as there wouldn,t be many people there. they also gave us bulk head seats which cannot be done on line as it is done on the day. flying this time with tcd and they have also put us to check in in first class and they recon they have pre booked bulk head seats, we will wait to see.
