Day 2 - Sunday 10th September - Death Valley & Las Vegas

As expected I was awake at 2:30am and couldn't get back to sleep, so after sorting bags out and things which woke Kerry it was 4:30. So we packed the car and headed to Starbucks which opened up at 5am.

We set off on the 4.5 hour drive to reach Death Valley National Park, we got to the outskirts but about 10 after stopping of for gas and supplies. From there we stopped off at various point to take pictures before our first stop at Furnace Creek, the only one with a name was the Mesquite Flat Dunes.

Once we arrived at Furnace Creek we grabbed a sandwich to share and a drink from the gift shop and took the picture with the sign.

We set off to Badwater basin next to walk out to the salt flats, it didn't seem like very far when we set off the car so we left the water in the car and just took our camera's. It wasn't the greatest idea as on the way back we were so hot and thirsty and it was now 42ēc it was a hard walk back to the car!

The next to stops was a drive through Artisan Drive and then on to Dantes View which has amazing views over Badwater Basin.

After taking it the amazing view we headed off to Las Vegas to check-in to the Venetian. It took about 2.5 hours to get there and had to queue to check-in, we had a room on the 15th floor overlooking the Pools and the Strip. We were amazed by the size of our suite and how comfy the bed was, vast improvement over the Travelodge!

We went to explorer the Venetian and grab something to eat as we were getting very hungry by now. We looked around the Canal Shoppe and then found an Italian in St Marks square, the food was nice and reasonable priced. I forgot to note down what we had to eat.

We spent the rest of the evening looking around our hotel and just outside the strip and caught the Volcano erupting at the mirage.

By then we were very tired so at about 10:30 we headed back to our room.
