Oh I am so pleased that I found this thread! I am currently planning a two week holiday - a week in Singapore followed by a week in Hong Kong. We are planning universal and Disney

Its a girls trip with my 9 year old daughter and then we get to meet up with my other half in HK for three days before heading home (he's currently working in China and this happens to work out well!).

I've so many questions I'm not sure where to start. I think the main ones are around accommodation. Friends have recommended the W hotel on Sentosa for Singapore. Then I thought perhaps a couple of nights at a Disney hotel in Lantau before staying in HK itself, but haven't a clue beyond that! Any thoughts or advice?

Pumpkin and clover - I'm also in Scotland. Good tip about the money :o

I've posted earlier in this thread but I'm happy to answer any questions about Singapore!

In terms of hotels - Singapore is tiny. So it's easy to get anywhere within the island. If you're planning on getting around with public transportation, anywhere near an MRT (tube) station would be easy to get to. Anywhere that is central/south would probably be fairly convenient to get to most places as well!

As Sky13 says Singapore is easy to get around on public transport. We only went across to Sentosa once to visit Universal but it depends on what you want to do when you are there. We stayed at the Fairmont and it was perfect location for us as it was above an MRT station and linked to a large Mall with loads of places to eat. I would stay there again.

Hong Kong was really easy to get around also. Transport is not only very efficient and clean in both cities but also cheap. Both cities felt very safe and people were friendly - especially in singapore.

Thanks Sky and Pumpkin.

This started off as a couple of days in Singapore then a beach destination trip and has grown into a two city holiday with universal and disney 😂

Great tips about the transport thanks 👍🏻

If possible I might look into buying in advance as I've always seen a small queue at the ticket counters at universal. Not sure how long the queue for tickets takes though.

Always, always, ALWAYS hot and humid. The weather is pretty much the same the entire year round (Singapore being 1 degree north of the Equator) at around maybe 25-35 deg Celsius. There may or may not be thunderstorms as well. Basically, it’s very similar to Florida in summer...

Singapore is pretty well prepped in general for the heat/humidity/rain though - most indoor places have air conditioning, and there are sheltered walkways in many places.

all the more to pull up at a hawker in the evening for noodles and a bucket of tiger beer. we used the MRT to get around. Very safe. we even used it after the night safari (a must).

HK, just choose a hotel near a station, we stopped in Causeway Bay on the island, we used an octopus card to get around (like an oyster) which was good for ferries, bus back down from places etc. The disneytube train was great too, added a bit of character. No issues getting about HK. We used the subway from the airport with luggage too (as usual the first 'airport' train is always more expensive). No issues.
