Points swap?
Hi guys, has anyone on here actually ever swapped points with other members? Our home is the AKL and we really would like to stay at the BWV next September, but come the window to book there historically we haven't been able to get into there for more than the odd day. We really want a week or even longer. So was thinking are there BWV DVC members out there who want to stop at the AKL but have the same issue? In which case swapping point for our next vacations could be the answer ? What do you think? Is this something that could work?

Depends what you mean by swapping? You can transfer points between DVC members - but you can only have one transfer in or out per use year, so whilst you could transfer in someone else’s Boardwalk points, that would be both of your transfers for that use year, so you’d either have to swap your animal kingdom points out to them from a different use year or just pay them for the points.
Alternatively you could book a reservation for someone and they could book you one with their points, but that would involve more trust and could get complicated if you aren’t both using the same number of points. I would say the easiest way would be to either pay to transfer in BWV points to book your own room, or rent a reservation. Then rent out your own AKV points to help recoup the costs. You may struggle to get a swapper, reason being BWV is difficult to get in a studio (not 1 bed) in September at 7 months, but AKL isn’t difficult aside from maybe thanksgiving, Xmas to NY and Easter. However, you may get lucky and find a BWV owner who would like the certainty of AKL booking at 11 months, want to stay in a busy period or be after value rooms which as you know can only be obtained beyond 7 months usually in a studio. I think there was a Facebook site which specialises in swapping points. Watch out for scammers though.

The availability will be your issue, whilst the Epcot resorts are next to impossible to get at 7 months that time of year, I've managed to get a value room at AKV at under 6 months for a week low season before (1 bed, can't speak to the higher demand on studios).
I own at BCV - hence why I opened this thread incase I could be of use - but to be honest, swapping with an AKV owner is just of no benefit to me. I'm not trying to put you off, just offering an Epcot resort owner's perspective on it.
