Just booked! Any tips for a first timer!
Hi all, completely new to this section as never been to DLP before!
We have just got back from Florida and are not intending to go back until 2020, so we decided to get a Disney fix in between! My husband has been as a child/teenager but way before the second park opened so its pretty much like his first time again. So any tips for newbies? What is the FP system like? Best places to eat? We are staying at Sequoia Lodge, Montana Lake Side room with the Half Board Plus meal plan included. We are going mid May so anything to watch out for around this time? Thanks! |

Try and book inventions at the Disneyland hotel. It's pricy but the foods amazing as are the characters.
Also take time to look at the details in Disneyland Parc. It's a very pretty Parc especially Adeventure Isle and Frontierland |

FP system - I don't like it compared to the WDW version but lots of people do. It's pretty simple - go to the ride you want to FP (as early as possible as they do run out), scan your park ticket and then it will spit out a FP return ticket for later in the day. Once you've used that one up (or when the time on your FP ticket says you can get another) then you can get another one for a different ride. It's too much criss-crossing the parks for me but then I'm lazy

Sequoia Lodge is a great choice, it's only a 10 minute walk from there to the parks.
When you are visiting it will be the Season of Super Heroes (Marvel) - the full details aren't out yet but they have announced today that there will be a Groot meet and greet for the first time. Food wise with the plus level dining plan that you will have I would recommend checking out Bistro Chez Remy in the Studios Park, Captain Jacks in the Disneyland Park, Hunters Grill buffet at Sequoia Lodge and Cape Cod at Newport Bay. You can book your table reservations 60 days ahead. If you have paid for the meal plan as an added extra you will get breakfast in your hotel, if you have a deal that included a free meal plan you will get a counter service breakfast in the parks. Fastpass wise it is the 'old' WDW system with paper fastpasses that you collect from the machines near the rides. Hope that helps. |

Thanks!
Any rides you recommend to get a FP for first? Our main rides we want to go on are Hyperspace mountain, Star Tours, Rock n Roller Coaster, Crush coaster. We got "half board plus" included in our package with Magic Breaks so what does this mean re breakfast? I read it on the Disney Holidays website as that it included buffet breakfast but is that not the case if we got it included? If so, where would you recommend for counter service breakfast? I love the look of Captain Jacks however the menu doesn't really appeal unfortunately however may still go if it changes between now and May. Going to try Annette's diner and possibly a steakhouse and The Hunters Grill gets great reviews so definitely try there. We have 3 nights/4 days. How do you book, can you do it online or do we have to call up? Sorry for all the questions! |

Crush's Coaster doesn't have FP unfortunately - it is recommended you hit that one during Extra Magic Time as you can save lots of time queuing, same goes for RnRC it is usually a 5 min wait during EMT.
Big Thunder always has a wait so I would recommend using FP for that, as does Buzz Laster Blast. Space Mountain is often a shorter queue than you would expect but if its a long wait then FP does no harm there either! If your meal plan was included 'free' in your package then it will be a counter service breakfast. If you want to hotel buffet you can pay a top up fee if they have availability. Otherwise it is a 'meal deal' of either pastry, baguette, hot drink and juice or pastry, 'omelette burger' (think McMuffin), hot drink and juice that you get. Location wise it changes but there is usually one restaurant in the parks to pick this up from or if you want the baguette breakfast option you can pick it up from the Sequoia hotel near the bar. For dining reservations you can call up, they are rolling out online booking so it might be up and running when your window opens in March. We ate at the Steakhouse in the Village last year and that was lovely too so a good option on top of those mentioned already! Edited at 03:32 PM. |

Thanks! We are not massive breakfast eaters to be fair so it sounds like this quick serve option may suit us better!
Thanks for the tips re fast passes. Do the EMH alternate between parks? We are arriving Tuesday afternoon so have Wed, Thurs and Fri mornings to take advantage. |
