Gatwick Special Assistance

I sent an email to Gatwick special assistance asking about needing evidence for our lanyard. They replied saying no evidence was needed however the could offer us an "escort" to "assist through the security process" Has anyone used this service and what does it entail?

I'm afraid I can't answer your question but am following as we're flying from Gatwick for the first time next trip and would be very interested in any information on this.

I got a lanyard in September, but didn't get a escort through security from memory. But the special assistance/family one was much quieter and a much more relaxed experience. The special assistance lounge is great too if you're flying from the North terminal, a quiet sitting area away from the hustle and bustle of the regular terminal and really cut down on the stress by the time we boarded the plane.
