Internal flights to Orlando
Evening folks, I'm in the planning stages of a trip next September and am looking for any tips or experiences people have had with internal flights from Vegas to Florida.
Any airlines to avoid ? |

To my knowledge, the only airlines that fly non-stop between MCO and LAS are Southwest and the ultra-LCCs Frontier and Spirit. I’ve never flown with the latter two (have read some dodgy online reviews, but suspect it’s quite like Ryanair, you have to know their rules and stick to them, and they’ll make you pay through the nose if you don’t).
I flew MCO-LAS with Southwest earlier this year, the flight was packed but no issues. FYI, Southwest does give 2 checked bags included per person (not that I used them, I rarely check a bag). Southwest doesn’t do reserved seating, it’s a free-for-all though everyone is allocated a boarding priority number, and you can pay to go up the priority. If you want to fly on one of the main carriers, you’d need to go indirect via one of their hubs, which will add 1-3 hours to the travel time. Edit - I think my flight cost around $210-220 one way, plus around $15 to improve boarding priority, but I only booked a couple of weeks before the flight. No doubt it would be cheaper for early bookers, that is the low cost airline model. Edited at 09:15 AM. |

Did this route in 2016 with southwest and planning to book with them again for September next year - flights should be released in January I think. Two checked bags pp free and we paid to ensure we sat together - can’t remember the name of the service . Think it was £10 each.
ETA we paid approx £100 each for one way flights I think. |

Another vote for Southwest. We’ve paid $89 in the past. Can not fault this airline at all.

Avoid Trans American Airlines, especially if Ted Striker is onboard.

We flew with Southwest from New Orleans to Orlando last year & had no problems with them.
Suss out their rules & you'll be fine, two checked bags per person & we paid extra to board in one of the first boarding groups.

I use SouthWest a lot in the USA... never had a problem and their staff are helpful and often hilarious. Look on YouTube if you haven't already to see some their interpretations of the security demo (I've experienced several classics!). The fact they include checked luggage is a real bonus, and their reliability is pretty good. You need to be 'on the button' the second the online checkin opens to get a decent boarding group, unless you want to pay extra.
I'd avoid Spirit personally as their reliability isn't fantastic. |
