Anyone from Sheffield? Advice of where to stay
I'm attending a Uni study weekend in Sheffield on 3rd & 4th Nov, at the School of Clinical Dentistry on Claremont Crescent.
Can anyone recommend the most convenient place to stay with easy/free parking, in walking distance of places to eat at night? Thanks

The premier inn On st marys is a good bet . In the city and within walking distance if everything . No free parking though.
Parking up near the university is a nightmare as all the major hospitals are surrounding it. There’s also a travelodge at Meadowhall and you could tram it in . We rarely drive in Sheffield due to the parking tbh. Hope someone else can perhaps help .

Where you need to be is like mexy says in the heart of university campuses and hospitals and a Royal pain with parking and quite a few roads around there are permit only. I'd be inclined to stay in travelodge near meadowhall there's also a Premier Inn other side of meadowhall then you can get supertram from meadowhall into city centre and a bus up to the campus, staying near meadowhall you are nearby valley centretainment with lots of places to eat and things to do. We also choose not to drive into Sheffield centre anymore and get bus, train or tram, you have park and ride at meadowhall and centertainment too

I’m also tight ( proper Yorkshire lol) cheaper to get the tram return than pay for parking in Sheffield . We drove Friday to Charles Clifford ( dh dropped us off , it took us over an hr on friday to get there . Crazy busy. I just hope the tram/train goes up to there when it starts running , it will be a godsend.

Few decent places to eat in Sheff- turtle bay is nice but there’s a few up and down the country! Smoke is very good but bring your credit card. Butlers Balti house just outside the city centre is amazing and not bad prices too for its location. If your up ecclesall road try the Greedy Greek. Little deli type cafe place reasonable prices too. Green room in town is ok for a bite to eat reasonable too. Some nice food places around Keelhaulers Island too.
BTW free parking at Bramall Lane. Just outside city centre. Loads use it to park for town - as long as there isn’t a match on |

If I stayed at one of the Premier Inns/Holiday Inn that have free parking, am I in walking distance of the hospital (as I believe that is the vicinity of the place I need to be)?
Or could I get a cab from the hotel?

Premier inn on st Mary’s gate is close to Bramall Lane - you can park there then literally a 3 minute walk. Try copthorne hotel at Bramall Lane too that’s nice and can be cheaper than PI and of course you can park there too.
Travelodges are a little further out and you would need to get the tram- probs 45-1 hour journey time. Halifax hall hotel mentioned above wouldn’t be a bad shout either - not sure on parking there. |
