Our first attempt at Mickey ears...

There are 8 of us going this year - 4 of us are girls and we wanted to do something a little different - so DD and I decided we'd try our hand at making some ears...

WOW! They are amazing! Did you find them easy to do? Did you follow instructions? Did the 'ingredients' cost you an arm and a leg ? My oldest has seen some she'd love to get on etsy but they're £20 plus postage! If I could make some, that would be much better!

They were time consuming and you really need a hot glue gun but the costs weren't bad - most of it came off of eBay with a couple of the bigger flowers from Dunelm, but after we bought them and started cutting them up, my mum told us we could get them from the pound shop! We didn't follow any instructions, but we did take the suggestion of using a Yankee candle for the ear size

Great idea for the ear size... what did you use for the ears? And the lights? I have a hot glue gun, will have a trip to pound shops (not sure I've seen many, but will have a nose!)

We used wide florist wire - you can get different colours and battery powered LED lights - the ones with only 10 lights on copper wire. The lights took a couple of weeks to arrive as they came from China. We just tried to find the cheapest but best looking flowers - picked sprays where we could so that we could use the smaller flowers as "fillers' so they covered any holes or bits that didn't look good.

Have a look at the ones that Beatrixplotter has done too - her's are gorgeous.

*Sticks nose in* These can be very cheap to do if you shop around and are patient waiting for stuff to ship to you! Each pair of my ears cost me about £10ish!

Thanks Beatrix, by all means, stick your nose in! Got wire today, but realised how expensive the flowers are (Hobbycraft prices, though, so will definitely look around!). Countdown getting closer, but my fabric arrived today for those ears... we are on an ear mission in this house!

I recommend Wilko's for flowers, they actually have some very pretty ones! I got a few of mine cheap off Amazon too.

Fab, thank you, will try Wilkos in the next couple of days! Found some on a website but not sure they'd be here in time! Better get thinking about themes!
